Voice Reading, Mail to: is an installation that explores the concepts of presence and absence. The installation features a mechanical voice that supplements a human voice, acting as an interpreter as it reads a text about a human relationship and conversation with the self. The voice is accompanied by a musical composition that uses the ocean as a metaphorical reference. The aural components of the installation, such as the mechanical voice and music, compete with the sounds of ocean and wind waves. The installation is site-specific and encourages audience participation.
